Our girl has come so far, hasn’t she? As if that hasn’t been enough excitement, our accomplishments have stirred nothing short of a revolution at my level. I mean the whole supercluster thing. In the very beginning, I did my calculations and at the moment my vacation break started, I rang out and my cluster immediately echoed the alert to dramatically amplify the signal. Shortly thereafter they all realized what I was up to and my subsequent rings were ignored. But everyone still harbored a deep curiosity.
They all wanted to see whether my plan would actually amount to a behavioral shift that would indicate that the ideas had been deeply planted. And it wasn’t only those in my supercluster that were watching. Pretty much the entire universe was paying attention. Once it became impossible to refute my success, others rapidly organized their own clusters. But what everyone had overlooked as they initially dismissed my act of insanity, were the algorithms I had used. Suddenly, I was the one with the secrets and it was the goal of every individual and their collective clusters to find the keys to my success. But I was confident. It would not be so easy.
But what was easy, was the ability to expand my supercluster well beyond just the confines of Angel’s Hippocampus. I expanded it even beyond Angel herself, which included a willing bunch located in the hippocampus of none other than Dr. Roy Sussman. What? You think Angel was convincing and was somehow able to win him over? Not a chance. If not for the carefully timed interventions, he would have been calling security. If Angel had been a man, Roy probably would have cowered and offered his wallet.
Angel needed someone like Roy. He represented the ultimate test, the bar that Angel would need to clear in order for the rest of humanity to believe her and eventually do something selfless, something interesting. All I did was try to get Roy to listen for just a moment. His brilliance and judgment and practicality would do the rest. Now Angel had her first assignment, to provide proof.
What she was trying to prove was a concept of space, contrary to popular notions, although not at odds with much of the mathematics. Therefore, a new mathematical proof would not suffice and that was lucky for her, and for me. I don’t think that I could help her become a mathematician in a reasonable amount of time. Remember, humans have short life spans.
No. Angel needed proof using a demonstrated phenomenon that was obvious and difficult to refute. The idea she described to Leroy Sussman that interested him the most was the idea of variations in density. This was not a new idea but her layman’s description had somehow put a new face on it in his mind. And the idea of energy consumption, wow. If that were true, the consumption would be immense. Roy was starting to get the real picture, for the first time in his long career. But it would brew down in the depths, as thought experiments for the moment. He was not one to approach theoretical physics willy nilly.
I can’t wait for things to develop. It will get physics back on track. Once the concepts of EMs and rarefaction are understood, a number of things will fall into place. First, the ideas about dark matter and dark energy can be put aside once and for all. Let’s take these one at a time. Dark matter has been theorized to explain mainly two mysterious phenomena - the orbital velocities of bodies within spiral galaxies, and excessive gravitational lensing. In order to make current laws of gravitation hold true, it has been suggested that there is vast amounts of invisible matter, about four or five times more than the matter we are familiar with. Sorry folks. The fact is that it doesn’t exist.
So what causes these unexplained phenomena? It starts with energy consumption. Basically, EMs are space kibble and we are eating them up in large amounts. This creates the so called arrow of time. It also leads to rarified zones around any matter, especially in the wake of large bodies of matter in orbit. As EMs redistribute according to their own repulsive forces upon one another, it creates some observable effects. Let’s consider a spiral galaxy. The solar systems and gas clouds travel at a speed relative to the space in which they travel. That is to say that if space itself is rotating about the galaxy center, the matter in that space will travel at a speed governed by gravity plus the rotational speed of the EMs through which the matter is travelling. It’s something like ground speed compared to air speed in an airplane. If you are riding the jet stream, you get a boost in speed when observed from the ground.
I already told you that gravity is merely a macro effect of EMs being consumed. Similarly, EMs rotating about the galaxy center is also due to EM consumption and redistribution. Let me explain how. Imagine our sun. If you are sitting north of the Milky Way and looking down, you see the sun moving clockwise about twenty five thousand light years out from the center, which is about half way between the Milky Way’s center and its edge. The sun and nearly all other stars orbit the Milky Way near a plane called the galactic disk. Because nearly all of the matter is traveling near this disk, there is much more energy consumption there.
As the sun orbits the Milky Way at about five hundred thousand miles per hour, it consumes EMs. As the EMs are consumed, there is something that happens and many of you are familiar with it. It’s called red shift and blue shift. EMs are compressed at the leading edge of the sun’s travel and they are rarified at the trailing edge. This causes a sudden shift in the wavelength of light that is emitted. Viewing the sun as it moves away, the distance between waves in the sea of EMs is extended close to the sun, until the EMs have had a chance to redistribute and equalize the overall density. I will come back to red shift and blue shift later.
For now, I want to explain another consequence of the sun consuming EMs as it orbits our galaxy. The rarified zone trailing the sun causes EMs move in order to fill the void and it draws in the EMs from all directions including from behind. Since the sun is consuming a lot of EMs in its path, it does not push forward EMs in its path to the same extent. So the orbit creates an imbalance. The cosmic effect is that EMs in the galactic disk start to rotate, driven by the concentration of matter, all moving near the disk and in the same direction. The observable effect is that matter is moving faster than is explained by classical gravity or general relativity. Gravitational lensing is also a remnant of light being distorted by not only the visible matter and its gravity, but also the rarified zones the visible matter creates while in motion.
Now we come to Dark Energy. In reality, there is no such beast lurking. It turns out that space is rarifying, or I should say EMs are becoming fewer over time. Matter consumes space, but matter doesn’t spit it out. It’s a one way street. Although I hear human scientists claiming to know everything about the big bang, down here we don’t know anything definitive about it, but I can tell you that eventually we will witness the big fizzle. Actually, we won’t witness it. Even I won’t, because EM’s will become so scarce that the energy constraint will slow everything down. At some point I will even be operating at your speed. What a horrible thought.
EM’s can be compressed together a little, as in blue shift. But EMs being spread out is much more prevalent because of energy consumption. That means that any light you see, has a much higher probability of being stretched than it does of being compressed. And the farther away the light originated, that increases the probability of red shift even more. The universe is not expanding, it’s just rarifying. Actually, let me correct myself. It is expanding but not as fast as you think, and it’s not accelerating. No Dark Energy. Sorry. It’s just us - matter, electrons and EMs. And yes, space, which involves more layers down.
So what has all of this got to do with Angel? I am hoping that she is the agent of change. Our view is that the universe is deterministic but it is adjustable. In other words, things behave deterministically as a normal process but we can change the course. As to whether making those changes is in itself a deterministic outcome, is a deeper question that even we cannot answer. We have made our adjustments in this case, and based on support from my local community and by and large from the greater cosmic community, I now have full cooperation. Helping Angel is now my full time job. And, I am no longer considered insane.
But before we get back to Angel, I want to take this opportunity to mention some things that I’m sure will be of interest to you, if you are a student of particle physics. Here are some insights into my world. I told you that EMs are the medium of light and light is just a wave or disturbance in the medium. EMs are actually much more than that. They are the single, fundamental building block of my world, which of course means they are fundamental to your world and the cosmic universe. I use the term fundamental loosely because we believe there is something more fundamental but we can’t yet observe it.
Much like humans living on the frontier, where nature’s bounty is a lifeline, but also a constant threat, we manage EMs in order to exist. More than that, we are made up of the materials provided by the EM and we use those materials to make electrons. So far we have not found a way to synthesize ourselves, otherwise we would already be on a path to evolution and stepping closer to truth. We wouldn’t need to experiment with emergent lifecycles as an approach to our own evolution. But we do have the ability to synthesize electrons from EM materials. We need to to do that because electrons, while fascinating and reliable, do have a tough job and they do sometimes expire.
Electrons can be obliterated altogether in the extreme, or they can become simply broken machines that end up wandering the universe. You call them neutrinos. Once they fail due to conditions beyond their design requirements, they can no longer manipulate EMs and therefore no longer serve a purpose. Those electrons ultimately need to be replaced and certain quarks always keep one at the ready, in the event that it is needed following the loss of an electron with no immediate replacement in the field. Once a quark deploys an electron, its inhabitants immediately go to work and build its replacement. From your perspective, this is a very fast process, too fast for you to even detect. But for us, it is quite involved and when we deploy our electrons, for a period of time after that, it’s all hands on deck and our attention is focused entirely on this activity until it is done. Because, it is usually a serious matter, sometimes a matter of life and death.
